Statoil expands rewards with Buy & Fly!

The Irish fuel retailer, Statoil, has added 'Buy & Fly!' points to its loyalty programme's growing list of rewards. And for the charitable points collector, the company has pledged to add 25% to any points donated to selected charities.

Originally launched in 1995, Statoil's Premium Club has a current member base of 400,000 (up from September 2001's base of 330,000), and offers members points for purchases of motor fuel (1 point per litre), engine oil (2 points per €1 spent), and car washes (10 points per €1 spent), at almost 300 participating Statoil service stations. Members can also earn 500 points for each 'Home Heat' fuel purchase of 1,000 litres or more. New members also receive 100 bonus points upon sign-up.

Reward options Among the offers in the 2003 club catalogue is the option to convert reward points into Buy & Fly! points for a range of holiday destinations, including Orient Express excursions, Mediterranean package holidays, and weekend breaks throughout Ireland and the UK. In exchange for 850 Premium Club points members receive 100 Buy & Fly! points.

Premium Club Points can also be redeemed for instant cash back at Statoil locations, or exchanged for vouchers accepted in HMV, Blanchardstown Shopping Centre, UCI and IMC cinemas.

Rewarding the loyal "Last year we attracted an additional 25,000 new members to Premium Club. Our experience is that if you offer loyal customers gifts that are desirable and that offer 'value for points', they will collect and redeem regularly", commented Statoil's Premium Club manager, Michael O'Hara.

And, apart from the addition of Buy & Fly! points, the latest club catalogue also offers a range of home-delivered gifts, including CD players, kitchen appliances, hair and beauty accessories, and useful kits for the car (such as an air compressor or a breakdown kit).
