The Wise Marketer has teamed up with Aberdeen Group again, this time to conduct research into retail workforce optimisation. The survey aims to examine the opinions and practices of retail store operations managers and executives, and everyone who takes part will receive the full results in a report to be published in April.

The typical field store manager is still grappling with operational complexities. The internal value chain in a retail store requires customised solutions that can streamline the performance of inventory, labour, customer-interface, merchandising, pricing, training and loss prevention. But, despite readily available solutions, operational results remain inconsistent. And this complex interplay between store inefficiencies and resource allocation is creating further pressures. As a result, retailers often resort to ad-hoc measures that negatively impact profit, workforce and customer service.

Knowing the benefits
This new study will determine and explain the key benefits and opportunities that can be derived from using integrated and automated workforce management solutions in order to:

  • Maintain a consistent balance between store tasks, sales, and customer service levels;

  • Achieve 'best in class' standards of labour management and training, as well as low staff turnover rates;

  • Achieve superior customer service across all points of service in the retail enterprise.

Early findings
According to Aberdeen Group, initial findings suggest that almost half (43%) of retailers surveyed to-date plan to adopt a Task Management solution with store and headquarter-directed tasks, labour availability, and tracking features within the next 12 months.

Upon completion of the survey those who participate will be given the opportunity to receive a copy of the completed report, in addition to downloading Aberdeen Group's most recent benchmark report (usually chargeable), entitled 'The Changing Dynamics of Retail Promotions', as a "thank you" for completing the survey, which takes approximately 10 minutes.
