A new patent for the online delivery of various incentive and loyalty programmes has been awarded to loyalty programme provider, Trilegiant Loyalty Solutions (TLS), by the US Patent and Trademark office.

The patent, entitled 'Fully integrated, on-line interactive frequency and award redemption programme', supplements patents relating to the online delivery of incentive and loyalty programmes that were originally issued to Netcentives.

Trilegiant purchased the Netcentives patents at auction in December 2001, and they have subsequently been widely licensed to companies providing online incentive and loyalty services.

"We're very pleased that we can continue to build upon the valuable portfolio of patents that we acquired from Netcentives," said Marti Beller, president for TLS.

Trilegiant, which provides a range of points-based customer loyalty solutions, also continues to defend its patents. According to Beller, TLS is currently taking action against Orbitz LLC, claiming an infringement on patents in the US District Court for the District of Delaware.
