United and Safeway team up for Grocery Miles

United Airlines has announced that customers in Washington, DC, Maryland and Virginia who enrol in 'Mileage Plus and GroceryMiles' - a joint programme with supermarket operator Safeway, can earn a US$25 discount United Airlines travel certificate.

GroceryMiles members will earn additional Mileage Plus miles each time their cumulative qualifying grocery purchases reach US$250.

Signing up Consumers can join the GroceryMiles programme at participating Safeway stores or online. To qualify for the discount travel certificate, enrolment must be completed by June 10th, 2004.

Mileage Plus now claims over 44 million enrolled members, and has been voted the top frequent flyer programme by readers of Business Traveler magazine for the past eight years running. Members earn miles by flying on United, Ted, United Express or Star Alliance airlines, or by purchasing products or services through its network of 100+ merchant partners worldwide.

Award travel The discount travel certificate may be applied to United, United Express or Ted operated flights within the 50 United States, Puerto Rico, the US Virgin Islands and Canada. There are no blackout dates, although award travel must be completed by November 15th, 2004.
