US Miles & More credit card provides more rewards
A new 'Miles & More Mastercard' has been launched for Lufthansa's US-based members, offering benefits such as an annual companion ticket, use of the World MasterCard concierge service, mileage for card purchases, and non-expiring miles.
Issued by Barclays, the new card combines the spending power and amenities of a Barclays World MasterCard with the benefits of the Miles & More frequent flyer programme. Consumers who apply for the Miles & More MasterCard can choose from one of two card options that best suits their lifestyle and travel needs.
Premium card option Those who want a higher level of amenities, convenience, services and rewards can choose the Premier Miles & More World MasterCard, which features free access to the World MasterCard concierge service (which provides personalised recommendations and reservation assistance for dining, travel and entertainment needs), and a US$79 annual fee. Other features of this option include:
- 20,000 bonus miles after the first purchase;
- The ability to earn up to 15,000 additional bonus miles for balance transfers;
- 2 miles per US$1 spent on any Lufthansa or other Miles & More integrated airline partner ticket;
- 1 mile per US$1 spent on all other purchases;
- No mileage expiry dates;
- An annual companion ticket;
- Reduced rate foreign exchange fee (1%);
- Access to more than 500 airport lounges worldwide with Airport Lounge;
- No annual fee for Miles & More Senator and HON Circle Members.
Standard card option However, those opting for the standard Miles & More World MasterCard pay a lower annual fee (US$59), along with benefits including:
- 15,000 bonus miles after the first purchase;
- No mileage expiry dates;
- The ability to earn up to 10,000 additional bonus miles for balance transfers;
- 1 mile per US$1 spent on all purchases;
- An annual companion ticket;
- Reduced rate foreign exchange fees (1%);
- No annual fee for Miles & More Senator and HON Circle Members.
Since its US launch in 1993, the Miles & More programme claims more than 1.5 million US members and over 14 million members worldwide.
