Virgin America offers diners more loyalty points

Virgin America has recently partnered with MOGL, a customer loyalty platform for restaurants, as its first dining rewards partner for the 'Elevate' frequent flyer programme, offering members the chance to automatically earn loyalty points when they dine at thousands of restaurants throughout California.

Virgin America Elevate members are being invited to sign up with the MOGL network using their existing Elevate loyalty programme account number in order to earn 10% cash-back on every bill from a participating restaurant.

The cash-back award is automatically exchanged for Elevate points every month, at a rate of 30 points per US$1 worth of cash-back. For its introductory bonus offer (until 28th February 2013), any member who uses MOGL for a restaurant transaction earns double points (60 Elevate points per US$1 cash-back).

MOGL is a fast-growing restaurant loyalty programme on the west coast of America, and is the first company chosen to serve the dining category for Elevate (which already has partnerships in place with a number of other popular travel, shopping and lifestyle brands). Existing MOGL members will continue to earn their usual 10% cash-back, but they can now also choose to exchange their cash for Elevate points. They can also continue to participate in MOGL's Meal for a Meal programme, which donates a meal to Feeding America whenever US$20 is spent at a MOGL restaurant. MOGL's monthly jackpot cash prizes will also continue to be awarded to the top three spenders at each restaurant, with a new option to convert those dollars into Elevate points (US$1 = 30 points).

Elevate offers customers the ability to redeem loyalty points for absolutely any unsold seat on any Virgin America flight, at any time, with no blackout dates. In return for as few as 4 round trips (2,500 points) members can earn a free reward flight. In summer 2012, Virgin America announced a range of enhancements for the programme, including new Elevate Gold and Elevate Silver elite tiers offering various new traveller perks, and enhanced social rewards for virtual check-ins. Elevate currently claims more than 2.6 million members.
