Virgin offers online gamers Flying Club miles

The online gaming operator Virgin Games is running a loyalty rewards programme for its regular gamers, offering loyalty points that, apart from being assigned a fixed cash redemption value, are also exchangeable for Virgin Atlantic's 'Flying Club' frequent flyer miles.

The High Flyer points that are awarded to gamers who play in Virgin Games' online casino or instant win games are worth 1 penny each, or can be exchanged for 1 Flying Club mile each. Flying Club miles can be redeemed with Virgin Atlantic for travel to any of the 26 destinations to which the airline flies.

Earning points Programme members earn High Flyer points for all gaming activity at the Virgin Casino, earned at an average rate of 5 points per £100 wagered (that's the average quoted by Virgin Games, as different games have different award rates).

Points are awarded based on the amount wagered for the game, whether the player wins or loses at the game. When it comes to redeeming their points, players can opt either for Virgin Casino chips to the cash value of the points, or Flying Club miles.

Burning points While members are logged in to the Virgin Casino, they can also check their current High Flyer points balance in real time. From the same account management page they can redeem points for Flying Club miles or casino chips.

In order to convert points into Flying Club miles, the player must also be a member of the Virgin Atlantic frequent flyer programme (although sign-ups can be easily done via a link on the casino's web site). Members must accrue at least 50 High Flyer points before they can be converted for either chips or miles.

Redemption levels The Virgin Games web site helpfully lists some examples of how many miles are needed for a variety of travel and holiday packages, as follows:
