Loyalty Fraud Is A Big Concern In Australia
The consumer watchdog's National Anti-Scam Centre has detected a sharp rise in loyalty program scams following 209 reports to Scamwatch during the past four months. The Australian Consumer and Competition Commission deputy chair Catriona Lowe expressed concern Australians experiencing cost-of-living pressures may be more susceptible to the scam. "Scammers are deliberately panicking consumers by claiming their points are expiring soon," she says. Read more here.

Ennismore Dis-Loyalty Program Draws Attention Globally
Wise Marketer published a guide to loyalty program naming recently and the newly name loyalty program from hospitality company Ennismore represents such a clever play on words that it could not escape our attention. Ennismore is a hospitality company that manages unique properties and experiences in destinations around the world. Brands include SLS Hotels & Residences, Mondrian, Delano, The Redbury, and Hyde Hotels & Residences. In 2021, Ennismore merged with French-owned hotel giant Accor. The company’s new loyalty program “Dis-loyalty” is a travel and food membership program created by Ennismore that encourages members to explore new destinations and rewards them for being “disloyal”. The program is a paid subscription model that costs $18 per month or $216 per year.
Networld Media Group Launches Consumer Focused Site, Rewards That Matter
Networld Media Group, which owns a number of B2B websites in the restaurant, technology and retail spaces, has launched its first consumer website, Rewards That Matter, along with associated social media accounts on Facebook and Instagram. The site launched on August 1, 2023. Rewards That Matter brings awareness to consumers of the hundreds of loyalty programs available across markets in restaurants, retail, travel, banking, entertainment and more. The site, which offers insight on loyalty program news and rewards program updates, is a first of its kind for Networld Media Group, which owns FastCasual.com, RetalCustomerExperience.com, PizzaMarketplace.com and operates trade shows including Fast Casual Executive Summit and Interactive Customer Experience Summit.
UNDER ARMOUR Launches New "UA REWARDS" Loyalty Program
Under Armour announced that U.S.-based consumers have a new way to score more with the launch of Under Armour's "UA Rewards" loyalty program. Launched on July 31, 2023, U.S.-based consumers 16 years and older can enroll for free on UA.com, through the UA App, or UA MapMyRun. "We are thrilled to launch Under Armour's first ever loyalty program. Our consumers are incredibly engaged with our brand and UA Rewards will enable a deeper connection, delivering the value and benefits they've been craving," said Under Armour President and CEO Stephanie Linnartz. "UA Rewards is a diverse program offering value to consumers, including celebrity athlete experiences and exclusive wellness content."
The Cosmopolitan Of Las Vegas Joins MGM Rewards Program
The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas offers a loyalty program called Identity where members earn points for spending money on non-gaming activities and for playing slots and video poker. Beginning February 1, 2024, The Cosmopolitan will transition from its Identity loyalty program to MGM’s MGM Rewards loyalty program. The official press release stated “MGM Rewards is committed to ensuring a seamless transition ……. Identity members will receive communications prior to the integration with detailed information about the transition to MGM Rewards.”
Fiserv Rewards Points Now Redeemable In Amazon Shop Program
Amazon and payments processor Fiserv have teamed up to allow Fiserv’s uChoose debit and credit cardholders to shop on Amazon. To participate, uChoose (T & C can be found here) members must be enrolled in the Amazon Shop with Points program to redeem rewards during checkout. There is no fee to use uChoose Rewards points. The deal is available through more than 200 financial institutions enrolled in uChoose, with cardholders at hundreds more institutions expected to be able to redeem rewards on Amazon by year-end, Fiserv said.
