Netherlands Becomes Latest Country To Be Cut Off From Russian Gas Over Payment System

GasTerra, which which buys and trades gas on behalf of the Dutch government, acknowledged in a statement that it had decided "not to comply" with the new payment system, which the Groningen-based company said posed "too great a risk." "GasTerra will not go along with Gazprom’s payment demands. This is because to do so would risk breaching sanctions imposed by the EU and also because there are too many financial and operational risks associated with the required payment route," the statement said.
